Bulgari Diamond & Ruby Cage Earclips
The "Daphne Guinness: Undressed" video by Director Brennan Stasiewicz is a beautiful digital moment. This piece allows us to see the intricate sculptural armored glove that she created with jeweler Shaun Leane. We also get a glimpse of her New York apartment and preparations for the much talked about window installation at Barneys New York. It’s a visual treat, but I especially appreciate the audio overlay— being able to hear Daphne speak about her artistic concepts and approach to life is valuable documentation. The philosophical emphasis she places on acting with intention illustrates the level of thought applied to her artistic presence in the world.
Sidenote: Does anyone know the details of the long emerald green drop earrings worn throughout the footage in the apartment?
~ As seen on Nowness.com.
imaginedbysteph asked: I LOVE THIS!!! This is how a cocktail ring should be!
It is just a little piece of perfection, isn’t it!?
Gem Palace Earrings by Munnu Kasliwal for the Neue Galerie
Faceted Ruby Cluster Earrings, approximately 22 grams.
If you can’t visit the iconic The Gem Palace in Jaipur, India for jewelry but you can make it to New York City, then stop by the Neue Galerie on Fifth Avenue at 86th Street. The Design Shop collaborates with renowned designers to provide original pieces to the public. This pair of earrings is part of an exclusive line created by Munnu Kasliwal in 2008, the head designer for the eight generation jeweler. As this is the museum devoted to 20th century German and Austrian art and design, this line was inspired by Gustav Klimt’s 1907 painting Adele Bloch-Bauer, thus harmoniously joining two global art and design icons.
Wearing classic gold pieces has always been a great part of summer style, whether getting active at the beach or on the tennis court, or simply lounging away the afternoon.
House of Boucheron + Newson = Infinite Beauty
Boucheron Haute Joaillerie invited Marc Newson to collaborate by designing a piece that the master craftsmen of Boucheron would create. With The Infinite as inspiration, to even say “It’s quite something” is a bit of an understatement. Newson has long been interested in the mathematical world of fractals, and this project gave him the opportunity to further his own exploration through representation. The one-of-a-kind piece in the video is known as the Julia Necklace because it was inspired by Gaston Julia, the scientist known for discovering the Julia set Fractal. Beautiful, complex, elegant, fascinating - what more could ask for from a piece of fine art?
(Note: The next post includes a still image of the necklace.)
